Hello sir,

Am traveling with my family including 4 adults and 3 children 1,3,7 years old, on 22/july/15 to 3/aug/15
And it's my first time to Japan, so please need your advice about the transportation by jr

Will be arriving at midnight from haneda airport and will stay for one night resting

Second day will move to osaka will stay close to jr nara (which our hotel is located) and will stay there for 3 nights

Then will move to stay in the center kyoto for 2 nights

After that will move back to tokyo in shinjuku area and will stay there for 6 nights

Please advice me about how to use the jr which is recommended in most of the websites, and any advices regarding my trip

Thank you,

Hello there,

A 7 day JR Pass can be an interesting option for your itinerary. The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Osaka using the Shinkansen. From there any additional travel basically is free. The JR Pass also works as a single ticket for all your travel, so it's easy to travel around.

Also see below for more useful information.

Thank you guys for a quick response

And your advices are much appreciated!
Regarding tokyo for 6 nights. Was planning to visit nearby places like mount fuji, tokyo Disney land, and other places. so do you recommend me to take 14 days jr pass or there is other way to get the transportations on this period?

Hi again,

The best option would be to use a 7 day JR Pass for your travel from Tokyo - Osaka and surrounding cities. Then buy normal tickets once you have returned in Tokyo. Local travel within Tokyo is not very expansive so you may not cover the additional price of a 14 day JR Pass.

There are also day passes available for either the Tokyo metro or JR network for around 750yen a day. These may be interesting if you plan on doing a lot of local travel.

Hi,
Unless you do a lot more long distance traveling, a 14 day pass would not pay off. But the regional passes for Hakone and Kamakura can save you some money (and are not served by JR). Within Tokyo you might consider getting a 3 day subway pass.

I can suggest a few ideas:
For the Kansai area, go see [Himeji]. For the Tokyo area, see [Nikko], [Hakone] and [Kamakura/Enoshima].
